Lonely New York

As I spent most of the day dodging millions of people, through the subway, on the train, down the street, through the park and in the bathrooms. I tried to find subjects that displayed some sort of solitude through out the many faces of New York. My first experience in the big city has definitely intrigued my eye for street photography. I was thinking about my experience shooting street photography in the Twin Cities and how I would contribute to defining the look of Minnesotans. After my return I spent a day helping my buddy Rich clean up his place and he showed me this Taxi driver/photographer David Bradford and gave me some more well needed inspiration after the fact.

Manhattan Buidlings, New york

While making my way back from Brooklyn I decided to get lost in Manhattan. These monstrous buildings go for miles and miles. It is so amazing and I did not spend enough time in new york. Here is the second series of Monochrome photos.

I also have a couple other sets of photos from new york, so keep an EYE out. Cheers

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Orchestra + Cedar Cultural Center

This is probably going to be the closest thing to me ever seeing Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Efrim Menuck Had a Q&A between songs which talked of politics, bad jokes from the audience and random wonderings of the band. The SMZ’s dynamic arrangements seemed to quiet the crowd and Menucks amazing vocals could be the only thing heard at times during the performance. I would love to see these guys again soon.

Here are some photos from the Pert Near Sandstone show at the Cedar Cultural Center. These guy hosted a two night event that was filled with hippies, old folks, drunk 20 somethings and music lovers from all over. Be sure to catch these guys next time they play because you are missing out on some great bluegrass. Check out these websites for more details.

As I sit. And I know you are awful quiet now….

here is another day of my exploration in black and white photography. I noticed a deviant quality in the Saint Paul community today.

The ambiance of clutter in the the coffee houses seem filled with anxious folks anticipating spring. We haven’t had much of a winter this year and

the site of empty buses and complacent smokers catch my eye.

Northern Oregon

I got some shots heading up north of Portland a couple weeks ago. The fog gave the shots a cool aesthetic.
